Hi, for those I haven’t already met I’m Lisa Turner and I live on the beautiful Sunshine Coast in Queensland. Many of you, I will have already met through the Cotton tree Markets where I have had a stall for quite some time now. Others may remember me from the years I spent with 4Golf and the Sports Boutique.
I have been in the clothing industry for most of my working life now. I have always believed that clothing must be comfortable and you must wear styles YOU look best in, not necessarily what is fashionable or trendy at the time. That is not to say that these two concepts must be mutually exclusive!
I like to dress in a no-fuss style and I believe I am not alone in this. If you can make garments in good quality fabrics, with an interesting print or trim, something simple can become something stunning. This is the concept behind my designs.
The fabrics which I use are either natural animal or vegetable fibres.
The animal fibres consists of those such as wool, cashmere, angora and mohair.
Vegetable fibres I use are cotton, flax, hemp,linen, and those produced from natural fibres such as rayon and tencel.
Most people don't realise that rayon and tencel are actually "natural" fabrics. In the case of rayon wood pulp is reduced into basic cellulosic fibres, having much the same composition as other vegetable fibres. Rayon was initially produced to mimic the qualities of silk at a cheaper price.
Living in Queensland the weather is beautiful, but our summers are very long. I am past the age where I will sacrifice comfort for fashion and like many others I have come to realise natural fabrics such as cotton, silk and linen are ideal for our climate. My garments are not produced in third world sweatshops, I make them all myself to very high standards. Having manufactured a nationally distributed sportswear range for over ten years I am familiar with all facets of the manufacturing process and am able to deliver garments that you will love.
