Why Organic?
Certified organic products such as the Australian grown and certified cotton used in Bamboo Bliss Kidswear, meets the highest standards, ensuring that you will not be subject to chemicals and toxins. This is especially relevant when you learn that conventionally grown cotton, which makes up about 3% of total crops world-wide actually uses around 25% of the world's chemical pesticides. Of the insecticides used on cotton 7 out of the top 15 used in the United States are considered to be known carcinogens by the EPA.
Organically grown cotton is also better for the farmers as they are not exposed to the toxic chemicals,better wildlife who do not come into contact with the chemicals leaching into waterways or from feeding on poisoned plants.
Organic cotton because it is not exposed to chemicals during its growth or production will actually save you money as the fibres retain their strength.
Conventionally grown cotton will start to break down after 15 washes, yet it will take 100 washes before this will start to happen in organic cotton.
Organic cotton is a good choice for our children whose skin is naturally thinner and more porous than ours and not as effective in protecting
them against the constant barrage of chemicals in todays products.
Why choose bamboo?
Although the bamboo products I am offering are not certified organic, bamboo is an excellent choice due to it's natural properties.
Bamboo plants are naturally pest resistant, so no pesticides are needed when growing this crop. Being a quick growing plant bamboo does not require fertilisers , once again eliminating harmful chemicals in the production chain.
Bamboo is such a versatile crop it can survive in either drought or flood conditions. Bamboo is a totally renewable resource.
While trees make take years to reach maturity, bamboo is such a quick growing plant, with some varieties able to grow up to three feet in one day,
the harvesting cycle is quite short.
Bamboo is a good choice for the environment because it releases large amounts of oxygen into the atmosphere, even more than trees.
Bamboo plants are actually reducing the level of carbon dioxide in the air, while simultaneously reducing soil erosion through complex root systems.
Once the plant is harvested and turned to pulp, the fabric is bleached without the use of chlorine. Bamboo is also easy to dye and because of this uses less
water in it's production and doesn't need harsh chemicals or dyes. Once again making it an excellent environmental choice.
Once you feel bamboo fabric you will fall in love with the soft, silky feel. However there are many other reasons why you should consider bamboo
products, especially those for your children.
One of the most amazing features of this fabric is it's natural antibacterial properties. It contains a unique ability which prevents bacteria and other
harmful germs from growing on it.
It is also naturally hypoallergenic, which is a great advantage for our children,
who are exposed daily to so many harmful chemicals.
Bamboo,because of its ability to kill any bacteria which comes into contact with its surface also has the ability to reduce odours.

What is Talc?
Talcum powder is made from crushing, drying and milling talc rocks. Talc contains fibres which are very similiar to those of asbestos.
This close relationship to asbestos is what makes talc harmful. The fibres have been linked to tumors in the ovaries and lungs of cancer victims.
The fibres have the ability to move through the reproductive system
themselves in the lining of the ovary. For babies the danger lies in the inhalation of talc.
In the United States since the early 1980's, records
show that every year several thousand babies die or become seriously ill from
the inhalation of baby powder.
There is no need to expose children to this known carcinogen when there are safer alternatives available.
